Welcome to 5006 Bull Street, a former 1940’s farm house, near the end one of Savannah’s oldest and most famous streets!  The park-like front yard is shaded by tall tress including a majestic oak.  The location is great, it’s convenient to historic downtown, just a couple of blocks from Hunter Army Airfield, one street away from the JEA gym and pool and a short walk to the Fresh Market, Publix, specialty shopping and a bounty of restaurants.

The interior has been loving and painstakingly restored.   Paying homage to the original 1940’s character, the first floor was updated with great care to leave the footprint undisturbed. 

The focal point of the living room is the gas log fireplace with its dark Bombay mahogany mantelpiece.  Custom faux finishing and crown molding add depth to the walls.  The oak hardwood floors are amazingly level, a detail rarely seen in most homes of this age! 

The walls of the formal dining room are faux finished in a reverse mix to softly contrast with the living room.  An iron chandelier suspends from a beautiful ceiling medallion. 

The kitchen’s wide plank pine floor is hand-finished in squares of natural and white.  Chair rail molding brings definition to walls painted in a cooling palette of blue and white.  The original cabinetry was custom built by the Marsh Furniture Company.  The classic Marsh logos still gleam on the apron fronts.   The center island was designed with locking wheels allowing it to be repositioned for use as a buffet.   Whirlpool Gold range is gas and features split top oven rack for oversized roasting.  The chimney style hood filters and recirculates.  The kitchen courtyard offers a tall dining pergola and uncovered grill island floored with brick pavers. 

On the opposite side of the home, a huge, 16 x 16, sunroom projects in peninsula fashion, allowing for three walls of windows.  The space has an exterior door leading to a private courtyard and gated parking space making it perfect for a home office. 

Two guest rooms and a full bath are located on the first floor..  The largest room was the original master bedroom.  It features his and her closets as well as a separate shoe or linen closet.  Both rooms are quietly positioned at the back of house.  The guest bath is floored in a checkerboard of original one inch black and white tile.  The cast iron soaking tub and shower is surrounded by ceramic tile. 

The second floor was completely remodeled by Island Design, recipient of numerous industry awards. Under the watchful eye of Island Design’s owner, the space was transformed into a treetop master retreat complete with a bedroom, sitting or exercise area and an on-suite bath.  Three window seats are detailed with beaded board.  The floors are dressed in antique olive, to create the feeling of living amid the arms of the ancient oak.  The stair rail newel posts are solid oak, painted white with natural golden oak trim accents protected by polyurethane.  The moldings and casings on this level are generously sized to mirror the first floor’s original details.  Beyond the French door, a balcony door rises above the neighboring rooflines and captures views of the massive trees that shade Ardsley Park and Midtown. 

The bath is beautifully wrapped in beaded board wainscoting topped with a shelf ledge.  A china sink rests upon a Skyline washstand.  A Champion bowl was specifically selected for this upper level bath.  The bowl is combined with a Skyline water closet, maintaining design integrity.  Glass doors frame an oversized shower crafted of ceramic tile and travertine. 

On the 66^th Street side of the home, a bright red gate door welcomes you home to your private vine covered courtyard.  Double doors on the drive provide secured parking.  Wrought iron window boxes adorn almost every window of the home, creating a cottage like ambiance.
